Olympio Metals (ASX: OLY) is building momentum across its North American precious metals portfolio, with a promising new silver exploration target in Idaho and encouraging gold drilling results in Canada.
The company's September quarterly report, released on 29 October 2026, highlights progress at both projects, strengthening the geological case for further exploration.
With maiden silver drilling underway and gold mineralisation extending across a substantial strike length, Olympio is approaching a potentially important discovery phase. The next challenge is converting that exploration progress into defined mineral resources while securing sufficient funding.
Key numbers
- $1.18 million: Cash reserves at 30 September 2026.
- 1,500 metres: Approximate maiden diamond drilling programme at the Jacknife Silver Project.
- 8.22 million ounces: Historical foreign silver estimate associated with the Conjecture Mine, not a JORC-compliant resource.
- 5.0 metres at 4.54g/t gold: Significant drilling intersection at the Bousquet Gold Project.
- 1.3 kilometres: Mineralised strike identified at the Paquin-Amadee system, with further exploration potential.
Jacknife's new silver target adds significant discovery potential
One of Olympio's most encouraging developments is the identification of the high-priority Nexus target at its Jacknife Silver Project in Idaho's historically productive Silver Valley.
Announced on 20 October 2026, Nexus lies near the interpreted intersection of the Conjecture and Weber shear zones, two geological structures associated with historical mineralisation.
The Conjecture Shear Zone extends approximately 3.4 kilometres, while the Weber Shear Zone stretches roughly 2.3 kilometres.
The target is particularly interesting because historical drilling has not tested the interpreted structural intersection.
Nexus also forms part of Olympio's Silver Triangle, an area containing three historical mines that collectively produced more than three million ounces of silver.
Another encouraging feature is the historical foreign estimate of approximately 8.22 million ounces of silver associated with the Conjecture Mine. Although this estimate does not meet current JORC reporting standards and cannot be treated as a mineral resource, it provides useful geological context.
Olympio has secured an 80% interest in Jacknife and commenced an approximately 1,500-metre maiden diamond drilling programme.
Four holes had been completed by the company's 20 October update, with initial assays expected approximately five weeks from that announcement.
Confirmation of meaningful silver mineralisation across the targeted structures could substantially strengthen the project's exploration outlook.
Bousquet gold results highlight another promising growth opportunity
Olympio's Canadian exploration programme is also delivering encouraging results.
At the Bousquet Gold Project in Quebec, drilling at the Paquin prospect returned 5.0 metres grading 4.54 grams per tonne gold from 171 metres, including 0.75 metres at 24.3 grams per tonne.
Another intersection returned 11 metres at 1.43 grams per tonne gold.
These results have helped extend the recognised Paquin-Amadee mineralised system across approximately 1.3 kilometres, with another 1.5 kilometres of prospective strike remaining open westward.
The findings suggest further potential for mineralisation along the system, although additional drilling is required to establish continuity and economic significance.
Olympio currently holds a 51% interest in Bousquet, with a pathway towards 80% ownership.
That pathway includes remaining commitments of C$500,000 in option payments, C$250,000 in shares and C$1 million in expenditure over five years.
The opportunity is attractive because successful exploration could improve Olympio's attributable exposure to an emerging Canadian gold system.
Funding remains important as exploration gathers pace
Olympio's financial position reflects the expenditure required to advance multiple exploration projects.
The company reported $1.18 million in cash at 30 September 2026, alongside quarterly net operating cash outflows of approximately $1.21 million.
Exploration expenditure accounted for $861,000, demonstrating management's focus on advancing its projects.
Based on the September expenditure rate, available funding represented approximately 0.98 quarters.
Management has disclosed advanced discussions regarding additional capital, which could provide the financial flexibility needed to maintain drilling momentum.
The Halls Creek tenement transaction also offers $140,000 in staged payments by February 2027, with another potential $200,000 dependent on milestones.
However, further equity funding could dilute existing shareholders.
With Olympio remaining an exploration-stage company, conventional earnings-based valuations are not yet meaningful. Future asset value will depend largely on resource definition, project economics and funding requirements.
Insight: Two emerging discoveries could strengthen Olympio's long-term potential
What stands out to us is Olympio's growing exposure to two promising precious metals opportunities at different stages of exploration. Jacknife offers an untested structural silver target supported by historical mining activity, while Bousquet provides encouraging gold intersections across a 1.3-kilometre mineralised system. We see potential for meaningful geological value creation if drilling establishes continuity and supports future resource estimates. Securing funding remains essential, but the immediate opportunity centres on the next Jacknife assays and further Bousquet drilling results.
